Design model water with Water-Drops®

Simple and inexpensive

In this workshop you will learn how easy it is to create streams, rivers, ponds and lakes for your tabletop or diorama.
Most people know two-component casting resins and this material has its advantages and disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage is that once mixed, excess resin is a case "for the garbage can" because it will inevitably harden and if you overestimate, there will be a loss of material.
Here we present you a cost-effective alternative, where you do not have to fear this loss of material: Water-Drops®!
There are several variants of this. Article 6012630 contains a transparent granulate and a plasticizer. Article 6012631 also contains three different colored granules, and article 60858, the "easy" version, has the transparent material already pre-melted in the right proportion and delivered in a container for the oven.
To ensure that the plasticizer is completely bonded to the Water-Drops®, it is necessary to stir the melted Water-Drops® very well with a metallic object, such as a screwdriver or an old spoon. In addition, the Water-Drops® should not be heated in the microwave. Due to the hot processing, they are also only suitable for adult hobbyists.

You need that

Water-Drops® or the "easy" version.
Oven
Heat-resistant gloves
Empty (e.g. jam) jar
01
The forms of delivery
Water-Drops® are available in several variants, here you can see the delivery forms.
02
The items 6012630 and 6012631
For these variants you need, for example, an old jam jar or, even better, a heat-resistant jar with a spout.
Granules and plasticizer are completely put into this glass, mixed well and melted in the oven.
Tip: It is better to get an oven here, where it is not bad if once a mishap happens!
With the Water-Drops® Color variant, you can mix several jars with different shades and color intensities and melt them again and again as needed.
03
Item 60858
With Water-Drops® easy, we've already taken the work out of mixing, stirring, and initial melting for you and provide a heat-resistant cup that you can simply place in the oven to melt the transparent Water-Drops®.
04
Pour, wait, ready.
After the melting process, the Water-Drops® have a honey-like consistency for approx. 3 minutes. Now the liquid can be poured into the prepared stream or lake bed. Since the Water-Drops® are processed hot, you should wear heat-resistant gloves in any case.
IMPORTANT!!! With our hard foam models, you can use the hot material very well; however, if you have a homemade plate made of Styrodur or Styrofoam, this can lead to nasty surprises when the hot material "eats" through the plate. Therefore, the water bed should be lined with plaster, for example, beforehand.
The material is already hardened after a few minutes! So no waiting for hours, as with casting resins!
05
Rework Water-Drops® waters
A major advantage of Water-Drops® is that changes to the water surface are still possible even after curing. Thanks to the low melting point of Water-Drops®, the material can be melted and reworked with a hair dryer.
By using a heat gun, even the entire Water-Drops® can be re-liquefied. Thus, this product is ideally suited to subsequently create waves or rapids.
ATTENTION! However, you should make these changes BEFORE you have applied your plants and scatter materials, because they may not be heat resistant.
